Project Manager, QSA International Programs
The Project Manager is responsible for project cycle management of Quaker Service Australia’s (QSA) international development projects, primarily in Cambodia, India and Uganda. The Project Manager works collaboratively with QSA’s project partners to provide technical support, coordination and capacity development for effective project cycle management. The Project Manager monitors project progress, prepares and maintains project documentation, and ensures compliance with relevant policies and agreements. This role is part of a small team based in Sydney.
The successful candidate must have the legal right to work in Australia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with project partners in low-resource, global south settings while understanding the challenges of and opportunities in these contexts.
- Provide technical support, coordination and capacity development to project partners to support quality project design and management, including: annual plans, proposals, and budgets; project analysis, monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation and reports in a timely manner for QSA and DFAT purposes.
- Encourage best practice and ensure compliance with QSA policies and ACFID and DFAT requirements, including for child protection, safeguarding, and key thematic issues.
- Monitor project progress throughout the project cycle through regular remote communication, and partner visits.
- Work collaboratively and constructively in a small team including engaging respectfully and effectively with local communities and stakeholders in diverse cultural settings.
- Support capacity development of local teams and partners through training and mentoring
- Provide content for QSA’s Annual Report and community education initiatives.
- Represent QSA at ANCP webinars, ACFID conferences, and other relevant forums.
- Other work as reasonably directed by management.
This position reports to the International Programs Lead.
Selection Criteria
- Minimum 5 years experience working with international development partnerships and projects.
- Minimum 2 years experience in DFAT/ANCP project management and compliance, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in project cycle and budget management including project design, monitoring and evaluation. In-country experience is an advantage.
- Excellent cross-cultural communication and relationship-building skills. Proficiency in Khmer, Tamil or Luganda is an advantage.
